Built by Budd in 1950 for the Southern Pacific, the Golden Sand (800748) is a 46-seat, ADA accessible coach.  Its modifications for accessibility include a 36" end door, a full handicapped restroom facility, and a wheelchair lockdown.  Full retention with heat protection has just been installed, as have new Northwest Rail Electric HVAC controls.

In 2002, Golden Sand underwent its 40-year rebuild and is now Amtrak qualified.  The Golden Sand's accessibility and versatility make it an excellent lease candidate for excursions and short-line railroads.  It recently received original SP colors in Imron at ITAC.  Correct lettering has been ordered for the car and ITAC is installing new stainless name boards below the windows.  The windowband was also painted.

Golden Sand is ADA accessible and Amtrak Certified.
